Pine Something or Another

Came across a pile of White Pine today. Ten 1"X 8"X 8'. Since I don't work with Pine very often, maybe this will be fun. I have something in mind but I'm sure it will reveal itself as we go along. I'll post more pictures as I make progress, so you can see it come together from the beginning to the finish. Stay tuned, you might enjoy this...

I started with the faceframe. After that was finished, I started on the rest of the carcass. Then it was just a matter of marrying the two together.

I started on the bottom end by making the drawer stretchers and guides. This is olde style construction, no drawer glides on this piece.

Once that was finished, I made up the drawers themselves. After some test fitting and some sanding they were ready for installation.

Next came the top. After cutting and installing the top, the doors frames were made and test fitted.

Now I can concentrate on choosing colors.I'm thinking about an Earthy green color for the carcass, and a gunstock stain for the drawers, doors, and top, but that could change any minute now! Stay tuned!

Go Big Or Go Home

Sometimes, a small keepsake box just isn't enough. Some folks need just a little more "elbow room". At ten inches wide and fourteen inches long, there's plenty of room for those important things. Made from Curly Maple, with Walnut accents, and Walnut, Padauk, and Bird's Eye Maple inlays front, back, and in the lid. Brusso solid brass hardware means a lifetime of trouble free service. A great heirloom to pass down through the generations. Hope you like it!

A Lady's Case

We all know that a lady needs a place for her things. For her earrings, I suggest a Walnut case with locking divided drawers. Featuring dovetail joinery, solid brass hardware, and a polished mirror finish, she's sure to appreciate such attention to her needs. Treat her like a queen, and she'll treat you like a king.

Scraps? What Scraps?

What to do with scrap pieces of wood? Make something from them, of course! This small box is made of Walnut, with Bird's Eye Maple inlay on the lid, and Maple dowels to contrast the body. Red Cedar sides and red velvet lining on the inside finish it off. Hope you like it!

"Scarface"

Primarily made from Curly Maple, this piece has a Padauk lid inlaid with Maple and Hickory. Both sides have large "scars" (hence the name) and provide an unusual visual. The bottom is solid Padauk, and brass hardware and magnetic catch finish it off. Hope you like it!
